Samsung is a very well-known appliance brand renowned for its high-tech and trustworthy appliances. That being said, it doesn’t mean that your Samsung fridge won’t run into any issues down the road. Thankfully, Samsung refrigerator error codes exist, making it easy to figure out what the issue is when a problem occurs.
While all of the dishwasher codes are listed in your owner manual for your washer, we have compiled a list of the most common error codes and issues, what they mean, and how to troubleshoot them.
You should start off by doing a health check on your Samsung fridge. This is very easy to do and will give you a list of all the error codes. Start on the Family Hub panel, navigate to Apps, and then go to Fridge Manager. Select Fridge Settings and tap on Self Check. After you have pressed start, the list of error codes will be displayed for you to see.
AP
This error code indicates an issue with the access point.
The refrigerator will only display the AP error code when it is acting as an access point. This enables your fridge to be set up for Wi-Fi features such as SmartThings.
You can clear this error manually by pressing and holding the button indicated during the SmartThings setup. This error code will also clear itself once the setup has been completed or after a few minutes.
21E
This error code indicates an issue with the freezer fan.
This error occurs when the electronics cannot sense rotational feedback from the fan when it’s supposed to be turning.
The most common reason for this is because the fan has frozen up, which can occur if the door is left open or if there is a gap in the door gasket when it’s supposed to be closed. A more serious reason is that it’s the result of a fan motor failure.
If your fan has frozen up, you can fix it yourself by defrosting your unit or requesting a unit service.
You should also ensure that your door gaskets are in good condition and that your fridge is not overfilled to prevent it from happening again.
If this does not fix the error code, you will need to consult a qualified technician.
22E, 22C
This error code indicates an issue with the Fridge Fan.
This error occurs most often when the refrigerator is left running with the door left open too long.
You can clear this error yourself by unplugging the refrigerator and leaving the doors open for a few hours. Once you plug it back in and ensure the doors are closed, it should return to normal operation. If the error code occurs again, you may need to call a qualified technician.
41C
This error should only occur on the 3-Door French Door Family Hub models.
To clear this error, check the latest software update has been downloaded and installed correctly.
Once updated, tap OK after the first time the error occurs.
If the error occurs more than once after the update, you may need to call in a qualified technician.
If this does not fix the error code, you will need to consult a qualified technician.

85C
This error code indicates low voltage.
This error code will appear on Family Hub and is a result of low voltage detected on the power source.
This is a notice error and can be cleared by pressing OK for 3 seconds.
If this does not fix the error code, you will need to consult a qualified technician.
88 88, 83E, 85E, or 86E
These error codes indicate a voltage or power error.
They are the result of events like a power surge or other electrical anomaly, which could potentially cause a communication fault in your Samsung fridge.
To clear this error code, disconnect your refrigerator from its power course or cut power at the circuit breaker for 60 seconds, and then turn it back on.
If this does not fix the error code, you will need to consult a qualified technician.

PC ER, PC CH
These error codes indicate an issue with communication.
This error occurs when there is an issue with the communication between components in the refrigerator.
To clear this error, unplug your fridge, disconnect and reconnect the wire harness above the door, and finally restore power to the fridge.
If this does not fix the error code, you will need to consult a qualified technician.
OF OF or O FF
This error occurs when there is an issue with cooling off mode.
If your Samsung fridge is displaying OF OF, O FF, OFF OFF, or scrolling temperature bars, it means that the refrigerator is in cooling off mode. Cooling mode is also known as demo or shop mode.
The steps to turn this mode off will depend on your fridge’s make and model and can be found in the user manual. The most common method uses the control panels found on the outside front of the fridge, on the left side.
Start by locating the top two buttons on the left side of the panel.
Simultaneously press and hold both of these buttons for roughly 10 seconds or until you hear a chime sound. This chime will sound different from the chime that is played after a single button is touched.
Watch for a few moments to check the display does not return to Cooling Off Mode status again. You may need to repeat these steps more than once.
If this does not fix the error code, you will need to consult a qualified technician.
