Hello Alex, Thank you for submitting your review. While we never recommend keep any refrigerator in a garage, there are some that may be suitable for that environment. However, according to the owner's manual for your FFTR1821QW1 model, page 5 states, "For optimal performance, do not install the refrigerator where the temperature will drop below 55°F (13°C) or rise above 110°F (43°C). The compressor will not be able to maintain proper temperatures inside the refrigerator." Only a heated and air conditioned garage would be suitable for this unit. Thank you, The Fred's Team

Good experience repairing my Maytag




Brian arrived on time and was very pleasant and considerate. He went to work, replaced needed components, tested the machine and did more work and retested. Brian also stabilized the machine which was off balance. He answered my questions politely and left the area neat and clean. The machine sits on a new vinyl floor which I was concerned could be damaged when moving the machine as was necessary. The floor is fine as best I can see which I really appreciate.

Terrible service issue not resolved




Your service was a complete failure. Parts on a stove were replaced but the technician failed to bring a meter to check if gas was still leaking from stove. Technician was completely unfriendly. My wife and son still smell gas so gas was turned off again. Whirlpool recieved a report from tech saying issue was resolved. ITS NOT RESOLVED !!!!

After many visits by different repair compnaies over the past five years for my refrigerator, Corina was the first person to advise me to adjust the height of my shelves to keep the blower in the back working properly. In the past, they would tell me to keep items from getting too close in front...but never told me to adjust the top shelf to the height of a gallon of milk. Corina fixed all the other problems and even went beyond and showed me how to detach my ice maker (since I wasn’t using it) to give me more space in my freezer. Hire more Corinas!!

Best Service beginning to end




I had never heard of Fred's appliance repair and was very leary when my call was answered by a a centralized center. My fears were soon laid to rest by everyone's professionalism from the warranty call center, Fred's and finally the serviceperson Macauly. I would definitely recommend these folks for non warranty work as well, They were all accommodating,knowledgeable, clean and polite!!!..

It was disappointing that even though you knew what was wrong with our washer from the error codes reported on our call for service the technician did not bring out the parts to fix the washer on his first visit. Which took a week from the day we called. Then we had to wait another week to have him come back and install the parts. We have 2 sons and a lot of laundry so that is why we bought a Maytag that was supposed to be the best but didn't make it through the first year

I was dismayed by how long it took to actually get the repair done overall. We had two diagnoses and waited almost a week for part 1 only to be told that thenfirst diagnosis was wrong, althoug itmdidmseem to make sense. The second diabnosis meant we had another wait for a part, 2 days, but a six day wait for the installation. In addition, the supplier for the parts used fedex and the first part arrived with one end of the box totally open! I realize Fred’s repair is not a franchise for any brand of appliance but having to wait two,weeks for parts and service schedule to gel was really a proble, for a refrigerator/freezer repair in June! Both repairmen were exremely polite and diligent in their work, however. They seemed knowledgeable, also.

Fanastic Experience




Apparently my mom fell right as the repairman appeared at the door. She scooted to the landing to stand up, since she has bad knees and couldn’t stand on her own. He was so good to her and wanted to make sure she didn’t need to go to the hospital or did a family member need to be called. My mother doesn’t compliment people often but she talked none stop what a nice man he was and concerning.

Your company has a contract with whirlpool. Twice I was called to be told they can not come out to service my dishwasher. Due not having all the info. You should of contacted whirlpool. That's who you are contracted with. Then was told whirlpool didn't due their job. Wow, this is a company you work with. Maybe you should of done your job and contacting whirlpool. Instead you call me twice to upset me, thinking my dishwasher wouldn't be fixed. All you had to do is contact whirlpool ask the to get all the info. But no I'm contacted. Poor buisness practice on your half. I definitely told whirlpool how you said bad things about them and how bad your customer service is. I will day this your service guys were wonderful. Both respectful and courteous they did a great job on my dishwasher. They are a great asset to your company. In the future I work on better practices with customers on your customer service

these new washing machines confuse me. The first one I had i called for a tech 3 times before the lst year. It had to do with programming??? They let me return it and pick a new one. Now this one was not a year old and it woudn't spin and drain. (I went to laundromat). After the tech finished testing and punching in numbers he said it was okay. I asked what happened and he said he didn't know. I was happy it was working but Im curious if this is going to keep happening. My husband and I had a Maytag washer and then bought the dryer, I don"t remember ever having to call for a repairman?? After the tech left I proceeded to wash some towels that were waiting. Everything worked great. I went in to get it out and the lock was still on. ?? I hate to try to figure it out myself for fear I will press something and it won't work again. I called the warranty again. A very nice lady said to unplug for a while (I had done that the first time) and if it does't work call back. When I plugged it back in the lock was still on.? So I did not want to wait another week & got my book out. Under troubeshooting it said if the lock is on Press the Start button. There is no button that says "start" but I assumed it was the left side button that you press to start!!! It worked, the lock went off. WOW You probably think I am crazy but these things are so technical that we can no longer tinker our way thru. I just wish I knew why it stopped spinning and draining? I tried 3 different times. The colored clothes cycle, then the Drain & Spin. Still soaked, And last the Quick Wash to give them a refresh after sitting around for 2 days. It was still soaked so I went to the laundromat. I just don't want to do something that I will jam up the programming. I had 2 techs out in 2 weeks and the first one said it doesnt spin and drain. I said I know. But he said he couldnt work on it because I didn't have it a year so he told me to call back and have them find someone that could work on it. Thats how I got you! I am glad you are there and just wanted you to know my whole experience.

Service Has Been Good.....people on Service Desk have been great to deal with and were sympathetic to my frustration on need for multiple calls




Service has been good; however, it took 6 service calls to resolve issues. Initial issue was Icemaker Cooling Unit not working which was replaced on 2nd call and then next 4 service calls for Ice Crusher/Dispenser not working and on the last call the Motor was replaced. I think water got into motor from initial issue and then Crusher/Dispenser Motor become an intermittent issue as water was probably freezing/seizing up the motor sometimes...finally had to take videos over a week to highlight interment issue and out of 6 days it only worked one day on Thursday from Sunday thru Friday....so far so good, everything seems to be working great now. Thank god I had Extended Warranty on this Kitchen Aid Refrigerator or I would not be really happy with K.A. or Fred's, Technicians and Desk personnel were very easy to work with and would still recommend even with 6 service calls it took to finally fix issue.... The technician was not knowledgeable. She seemed stunned and took pictures, & had to check with her boss. She did not take the dryer apart she assumed the issue was “crayon” since we have a toddler. I told her it’s highly unlikely it’s crayon and dryer had been leaving black marks for a while. Then last week it ruined a whole load. Her notes were sent to Whirlpool/Maytag and since she coded this as a “cometic issue” they are not covering it and refusing to even send out a master technician. I’m very dissapointed with Maytag & Fred’s. We are left now with a faulty dryer and due to a technicians incompetence and unwillingness to further investigate this will be our financial responsibility. I would like to mention we waited an entire week for Freds to come out without a working dryer and we didn’t receive a thorough investigation into the issue. Only an assumption.

Seeing melted crayon in a unit is actually rather common, but typically it is brightly colored; so you can see how this could be puzzling. Our technician may not be sure what the specific cause is, but suggested it may be from crayons. However, we are certain this is not from a faulty or broken machine. We spent so far 10 hours waiting for you, almost $450 in parts and services, you are coming the 5th time for the same repair, and I spent hours this weekend at a laundromat doing our laundry. Your service is terrible and you have no clue how to repair a Whirlpool dryer. None of your repair representatives has come up with the idea to call a Whirlpool technical service to ask for help of what the problem could be. All of them are full of attitude and pretend to know what is going on and know best, and in reality, you have no clue.

Guys were in and out quickly, determined the require part, ordered it. The part arrived the next day, they showed up the day after that and installed it. In and out in ten minutes! Fixed, at the cost of an arm and leg!




The dryer needed to be fixed and I wouldn’t know how to do it, but I was a bit shocked to see that a $20 part and 10-15 minutes of labor ended up costing almost $250!

Fantastic Customer Service




We have two rental cottages at Geneva on the Lake. This is the second time we've called Fred's to work on our stack-able washer/dryers (separate issues two years apart). Everyone I spoke with, from the ladies who answered the phone to the techs who did the work, were super polite, knowledgeable and upfront with their policies. They gave a window of time they would arrive, called to let me know the tech was 40 minutes out, then the tech texted when he was there. The customer service we received is what you would have expected from an old "Mom and Pop" shop which is not often found in today's world. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area!
