The three best end of summer festivals in Cleveland

Summer is winding down and the kids are going back to school, but before that happens make time to enjoy some of Cleveland’s best outdoor festivals. Whether your interest is food, other cultures, or aircraft, there are several exciting family friendly local events in Cleveland that will end your summer with a blast.

Cleveland Garlic Festival

If you can’t get enough of this tasty bulb, the Garlic Festival is for you. Dance to live music, watch the crowning of Miss Garlic 2017 and more. Vendors at this event even offer usual treats such as garlic ice cream. Adults can indulge in craft beers and kids can engage in fun food related activities at the Mighty Locavores Area. Other children’s’ entertainment includes the beloved Flower Clown and Outback Ray and his amazing animal show, which features different types of reptiles, birds, and mammals.

September 1 to 4, 2017

Northeast Ohio’s largest annual outdoor festival takes place on Labor Day weekend so guests can enjoy both the end-of-summer weather and the holiday. The event opens with a ceremonial keg tapping on Friday night and runs through Monday evening. Traditional music, dancing, a wiener dog race and the crowning of Miss Oktoberfest are only a few of this festival’s offerings. While there are plenty of Oktoberfest traditions such as beer and food, this is a family friendly event. Children can build a gingerbread house or a sandcastle, meet festival mascot Otto the Weiner dog, watch the Frisch Marionette show, and more.

September 2, 3 and 4, 2017

This show offers families plenty to see, both on the air and on the ground. Aircraft and pilots scheduled include US Airforce Thunderbirds, WWII Pacific Dogfight, USN Superhornet, and popular acrobatic pilot Sean D. Tucker. Your family can meet a hero, check out display aircraft, and play on the kiddie concourse of in the Kids Zone. Food will be available for purchase and a Child Convenience Center provides a place for young children to wind down from the excitement.
