The technician stated that he could not see any problems, meaning that the unsatisfactory performance of the appliance is not a malfunction but a feature. I obviously bought a piece of junk. My options are to live with it or spend another large some for another refrigerator--which would almost unavoidably be another piece of junk. At least I have established that Whirlpool is not possibly but certainly to be put on my list of brands to never again consider buying.
