Appliance Repair: Tips on How to Clean Your Microwave

Have you ever taken a long hard look at the inside of your microwave? If you have, you were probably shocked at the amount of dried food stuck to it’s walls and ceiling. After you saw it, did you try and scrub all of the hardened debris away? If you’re shaking your head yes, you know that good old fashioned elbow grease just doesn’t cut it. That’s why we would like to offer you some creative cleaning tips to help you get that microwave spotless once again.

White Vinegar And Water

Simply add ¼ cup of white vinegar into a bowl of water and stir until the liquids are thoroughly mixed together. Next, put the bowl into the microwave and turn it on for 5 minutes or until the water and vinegar begins to boil. As the mixture warms, it creates steam inside of your appliance, which should soften the hardened residue left in it. Once the timer goes off, leave the microwave door closed and allow the vinegar and water to sit inside for another 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes are up, remove the bowl and with a wet cloth or sponge begin to wipe down the inside of your appliance.

Lemon Slices And Water

While this method is similar to the one mentioned above, the lemony smell left over after you’ve completed the cleaning process may make it the preferred choice for you. Once again, you will need a bowl of water, but this time, instead of vinegar, you are going to combine the water with sliced lemons. Place the bowl inside the microwave and turn it on high for 5 minutes. After the buzzer goes off, allow the bowl and lemons to sit inside for at least another 2 minutes. The steam combined with the acidity from the lemons will make wiping away the leftover debris extremely easy.

Baking Soda and Water

Using baking soda to clean is nothing new, and that’s probably why this natural deodorizer has no problem removing the grimy food from your microwave. First, you are going to mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 2 cups of water. Make sure you give the concoction a good stir, so the baking soda dissolves properly. Next, you’ll put the liquid into your appliance and turn it on high for 3 minutes. It’s best to perform this cleaning procedure after dinner, so you can leave the bowl in the microwave overnight. In the morning take the bowl out and scrub the now soft debris from the walls and ceiling of your appliance.

Removing all the dried food and grease from your microwave on a regular basis is an excellent way of avoiding the need for microwave appliance repair.
